Psychologist

Must work inside the jails. Perform assessments and formulate diagnoses for newly admitted inmates and ongoing patients. Assist treatment team to develop goals and objectives for Special Needs Treatment Plans (SNTP). Provide individual and /or group therapy as indicated based on treatment plans. Document psychological evaluations and diagnostic impressions. On occasion, evaluate patients and prepare reports for the Courts as assigned by the Director of Psychiatry, provide testimony to the Court as requested.

Skills/Requirements

Doctoral degree in Psychology from an accredited University or college. A minimum of two years experience in psychological evaluation and administration and interpretation of psychological tests. Must be articulate in presenting clinical findings with an ability to formulate diagnostic impressions based on standard psychiatric guidelines as presented in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manuel IV-TR for Psychiatric practice. Must have an ability to communicate to the Courts both verbally and through written reports as an expert witness.

Selection Procedure

The Maricopa County Human Resources Department reserves the right to admit to the exam process only those candidates considered to be the most highly qualified. Those selected will be scored based on evaluation of listed education and experience. The hiring authority will interview and select the successful candidate from a pool provided by Human Resources.
